Care For Kids 5K Freeberg June 23 2007

(Marvin) First unbearable hot race of the summer. These races discourage me because the heat slows down my times, but I keep telling myself that I will be faster in the fall. The course was a flat zig zaggy out and back that started behind a mini-mall. There were volunteers at every turn, eventhough on my way back one of the girl volunteers forgot to tell a runner and myself to turn at a street intersection. I had a time of 20:06, 2nd in age, and 11th/109. I do on the other hand feel that I'm tolerating the heat better this year.

I (David) started to get sick the Wednesday night before the race and was still sick Saturday morning. I think it was just sinuses. By Saturday my throat was still sore and my nose was stuffed up. Once I started to run I actually felt better. This race had even goofier age groups than usual. I was in the group 35 - 44. My time was 20:46, I placed third in age group, and 14th / 109. Again the overall winner was also in my age group so I was actually 4th. My first mile was 6:20. There was also a car show in the same parking lot so that was pretty cool.
