Sesser Homecoming 5k 06-20-09

(David) Last year I set a personal record at this race. This year I knew I wouldn’t do that. I’m still not running and riding as much as I should be. My final time was 20.42, over a minute slower than last year. I did get 5th overall and 1st in age 40-44. If you check last year’s blog you will see I was in the age group 35-50 that year, so I am glad they changed that. Actually, they made a few good changes from last year, although the results could have been faster. Also, they only gave medals to first in age group and it would have been nice if they would have given top two or three. My run was pretty good. I felt good most of the time. Around the two mile mark I started feeling better, maybe a second wind, and picked up my speed. I passed three people at that time, which I seldom do. I started wondering if I could have run faster the whole time. A lot of my running is mental. If I don’t think I can run fast, then I don’t. It’s something I need to work on. I guess I am happy with my results. This race is the same time as the Sesser Homecoming so after the awards I walked through the car show which had some nice cars. The start and finish of the race is at The Custard Stand, which by the way does not sell frozen custard. Who knew? Oh yea, thanks to Brad for taking the picture.
