(Marvin) Here is a race that I haven't ran in several years because it always fell on the same date as the Colorfest Biathlon. Not this year though, and I was able to attend. I'm the tall guy in the back of the picture. The thing I like the most about this race is the course. It's in the DuQuion fairgrounds, the roads are secluded, and the scenery is nice with hills and lakes. I also like to get flyer's to this race to promote the Pinckneyville Fall Classic 8K that Dave and I host, and is a week away. When I woke in the morning it didn't feel bad outside, mid 50's, but at race time the north wind picked up and made it feel real chilly. I didn't mind this one bit. I looked at my run time from the Colorfest a week before and told myself that I would run around a minute quicker than that time with the cool weather. That is what I exactly did. Sixty seconds better than last week with a time of 19:18 1st in age 30-34 and 6th overall. I think I could have shaved off a few seconds if the wind was not so strong that day, or told myself to do two minutes better than one. I won a door prize of a rather nice first aid kit. This will come in handy for any adventure races in the future. I would also like to give a shout out to my sister in law Sara Tanner who was at the race. She had fun and a good run. Her dad was also there, Mike Chapman, and he placed 1st in age 60-64 way to go!TeamDumb
