(Marvin) It's 2008 a new year for new goals. It has been awhile since I updated the blog. I have already run two races this year. The year been starting off rough for me. The first race was the Fly With The Eagles Half Marathon at Crab Orchard refuge, IL. The week leading up to the race my kids were sick with the stomach flu which I was hoping not to get. The day before the race I was not feeling well and only ate a few bowls of rice. During the race everything went downhill. I struggle just to finish it with a time of 1:52:13 8th in age 30-39. The next day I had the flu one of the worst in a very long time. It took two weeks for me to recover, and get my strength back. That pretty much sunk my marathon training for the St. Louis race on April 6 2008. The next race I ran was the Nutrition Fair 5K Carbondale, IL. I was not really wanting to do this one, but my kids wanted to do the kids race. The weather was cold and windy that morning, and I was feeling tired from working the night shift. I finished with a time of 19:53 2nd in age 30-39 and 8th/101. I was hoping to get around 19:20 or lower, but it didn't happen :( On the other hand I'm proud of my daughter Mollie (5 years old) for running the kids race. She was able to complete the whole thing without walking. I think the distance is a quarter mile not for sure will have to look into it. Adam (3 years old) my son wanted to race, but when around all the people he was a little intimidated, and daddy had to carry him all the way. Maybe next year he'll make it.

Mollie is in the red coat. You can tell how cold it was by the way she is bundle up. Nothing like a warm spring day : )
