(David) I thought I would give a summary of this year’s race season. Here is a picture of the t-shirts I received this year from races. As you can see I participated in many races. The picture shows 20 shirts. The shirt on the lower right is from the Pinckneyville Fall Classic 8K which I do not run, but help put on. I also did not receive a shirt for the St. Libory 5K. That was one of my best races too. My t-shirts are placed in chronological order of the races starting in the top left corner. The t-shirts / races are: “SI 10K” @ Crab Orchard (47:14) made me realize I need to start running earlier in the year; “Mito – What” 5K at Our Lady of the Snows (23:23) a tough, hilly race; “St. Clair County Law Day 5K” @ Belleville (21:23) one of the bigger races; “Waterloo Violence Prevention 5K” (19:58) only my third race and already beat my last year’s best time; “Bulldog Dash” 5K Germantown (20:10) hope to do this one again next year; “Highland Biathlon” (1:21:45) my run and transition times were bad; “Belleville Althoff” 5K (19:55) got confused last tenth of mile; “Care For Kids” 5K Freeburg (20:46) hot; “Steelville Firecracker 3K” (11:11) always a good time even though I wanted to throw up; “Hofbraufest” 5K Hoyleton (20:34) probably the flattest course; “COSLHS 5 mile” Evansville (36:15) small race that I think more people should enter; “Tour de Red Bud” 18 miles (55:01) I hit a car, Marvin got lost, nuff said; “Waterloo Optimist 5K Run For Youth” (19:31) some of my family got to see me run this one; “St. Libory” 5K (19:24) they ran out of shirts but a good race; “Popeye 5K” Chester (20.36) over a minute slower than last week’s time; “Millstadt Biathlon” (1:42:23) very happy with my bike ride on this one; “Midwest Monster Adventure Challenge” Quincy (8:53:57) ya that 8 means eight hours, probably my biggest racing accomplishment; “Nashville Optimist Club” 5k (20:20) still recovering from the adventure race; “Union County Colorfest Biathlon” Anna (1:16:25) accomplished one of my long term goals by placing third in age group; “Tunnel Hill 10 mile” (1:13:49) hope to do this one again, but with more training; “Pinckneyville Fall Classic 8K” a race everyone should enter. That is my list of races for 2007. My favorite shirt is the “Mito – What” shirt. I also really like the “Tunnel Hill 10 mile” because it is long sleeve and dry release. Actually I like most of them and am often seen wearing one, or one from previous years.
I still like the Steelville 3K and Anna Biathlon races the best. Others that are at the top of my list are: Germantown, Hoyleton, Evansville, St. Libory, Chester, and Quincy. I also like most of the others and will try to race in them all again, maybe not Red Bud. My best 5K time was 19:24. I would like to get under 19 next year. I’m not sure how easy this will be, I’m not getting any younger. I hope to run more next year and do more run and ride days. I hope to go back to Quincy and do better there. The worst part about that is just trying to get off work. I may extend my running season and do the Turkey Trot in Herrin next year, since the Tunnel Hill 10 Mile this year I haven’t ran or rode. Also, I think the interval training I did this year really helped me.
Here is a list of odds and ends stuff for 2007:
Total distance ran (+/-) in miles: 275
Total distance biked (+/-) in miles: 2070 (road bike)
Total distance exercise bike (+/-) in miles: 393
Total distance mountain biked (+/-) in miles: 112 (I hope to do a lot more of this next year)
