(Marvin) This is the first time I did the Evansville run for there were always other races or events to go to. The weather had been in the 100's all week, but the morning had a break from the heat with north west wind keeping it around 90 or so. The coarse was challenging with rolling hills, and a couple of steep ones. There was one downhill that I had to slow myself down because it was too steep of a descent. The race had many turns and twists that would make me ask myself if I was going the right way. Not many runners at this race, maybe around thirty. Felt like I was running by myself. I had a time of 34:12 1st in age 30-34 and 3rd overall.

(David) This was a tough race; five miles, hills, and heat. I am not sure why more people don't run this course? Maybe my first sentence answers that. I think there were more like 20 runners here. I think the coordinators don't get the word out to runners. It was hard to find the race posted on the internet. It was a good race to run, challenging. If anyone wants to see Evansville, IL this is one way to do it. I think we pretty much ran through the whole town. I ran with Marvin for the first 1/4 to 1/2 mile and then he pulled away. My time was 36:15 and I came in 4th overall and 1st in my age group, I was the only one in my age group (35-39). This was the second race this year Marvin came in 3rd and I came in 4th overall. My 3 mile run time was comparable to my 5k times. However after that I slowed down. There were times I could not see any runners in front of me or behind me. The last couple miles I did slow down because I was all alone. Once or twice I got a little confused which way to go because the chalk lines on the road were getting wiped out. The volunteers of the race were friendly. They actually waited for Marvin and I to get back from our cool down run before they presented the trophies. I thoulght that was really nice of them. I'd like to go back to this race, however it always seems to fall on days when something else is going on.
