Hoyleton Hobraufest 5K, July 12, 2008

(David) I’ve been waiting to write about this race because I wanted to find out how I placed overall and it took awhile for them to post it. You can see the results at: http://www.runningstartsports.com/results/Hofbraufest5k--2008.htm. Overall the race was good. My time was 20.27, seven seconds faster than last year, and I placed 1st in age 35-39. Last year Marvin and I talked to one of the people running the race, suggested five year age groups and this year they did it. That was pretty cool. Overall I got 12th out of 138 men. I think I could have done better in this race if I did not start out so fast. My first mile was 5.35. That was way too fast for me and may have messed me up. The race is an “out and back” and when I hit the turn around mark I was pooped. I didn’t hit my watch to find out my second and third miles but I bet they got progressively worse. My first mile should have been 5.50 or so. Oh well, I did what I did. I didn’t win any door prizes this year. The prize drawing was slow like last year and the awards presentation was equally slow. They should speed both of those up. It also seemed unorganized. This being the second year of the race may explain that.

I wish I could figure out why my finish times are so inconsistent. Less than a month ago I finished at 19.18. Two months ago I was 21.08. I’m all over the place.

Marvin couldn’t run this race because of work.
